In this chapterFind who changed a file, what changed and why.

  • File history: every commit that changed a file, following renames.
  • Line history: click a line number in Blame to see every commit that changed those lines.
  • Blame: who wrote each line; follows moved and copied lines; can skip formatting commits; a heat map tints code by age.
  • File view: a file as it was in any commit.
  • Browse files: the repo’s folders at any commit, with each entry’s last commit. On your current branch you can rename/move (git mv) or delete (git rm) files.
  • Code search across any version.
  • Overlapping commits, a commit’s pull request, and notes.
  • Insights: activity, top authors, most-changed files, team delivery (time to merge and to first review), history replay, your commits by account, and repository size.
  • Git command log: every Git command GitTrail ran, with Full output to see exactly what it printed.
