YOUR WORK STAYS YOURS

Privacy Policy

Draft: the seller's details aren't filled in yet. Have this page reviewed before taking payments.

GitTrail is built to keep your work on your computer. This policy explains the little we do collect. The controller of your data is [Your full legal name] (GitTrail).

The app

  • Your repositories, code, Git accounts, SSH keys and tokens stay on your computer. Tokens are stored in your system keychain.
  • The app sends no analytics or telemetry. It contacts the Git hosts you use only when you act (fetch, push, pull requests).
  • It contacts the GitTrail account service only when you click Sign in, Upgrade or Refresh.
  • Crash and error reports are saved on your computer and are shared only if you choose to send one.

Your GitTrail account

If you sign in or buy Pro, we keep:

  • your name, email address and sign-in method, held by our sign-in provider, Clerk;
  • your plan and its end date, and the Paddle.com customer and subscription ids that link your account to your payments.

We use them to sign you in, to issue your license and to support you. Your license, stored on your computer, contains your account id, email and plan.

Payments

Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record and processes payments under its own privacy notice. We never see or store your card details. We receive what we need to give you Pro: your subscription status and billing period.

This website

gittrail.com has no analytics, advertising or third-party trackers, loads nothing from other companies, and sets no cookies. It keeps your chosen colour theme, accent and text size in your browser's local storage. Signing in and checkout are not open yet; when they open, this section will say which cookies they use.

Feedback and feature requests

The Feedback page asks what you need from GitTrail. This website does not store what you type. When you press Send, your request goes to the place named in the note above the button: either the GitTrail team, or a public GitHub issue that you post from your own GitHub account. An email address is optional, is only sent to the GitTrail team, and is never shown on the public board. Ask us at [support email] to delete a request you sent.

Who we share data with

Only the services above, which act for us: Clerk (sign-in), Paddle.com (payments) and the host that runs the account service. We don't sell your data or use it for advertising. We may disclose data if the law requires it.

How long we keep it

Account data is kept while you have an account. Delete your account and we delete it within 30 days, except records Paddle.com or the law require us to keep (such as invoices).

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your data, or object to how we use it, by emailing [support email]. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.

Changes

We'll update the date above when this policy changes, and email account holders about important changes.
